Espaņa Rodada

Pilot Project for Espaņa Rodada  (2011)

Cultural Heritage

Espaņa Rodada is a tourist and cinematographic project that proposes a trip around various places in Spain where filming has been done for movies which have had an impact both nationally and internationally. The itineraries are organised into different Routes which can be visited in the style of a cinematographic road movie. The end result is a pilot activity consisting of an i-phone app and a web page, with comprehensive audio-visual, text, photographic and documentary content for each route. The pilot project for Espaņa Rodada has focused on the cities of Zaragoza and Valencia - the former as it is the cradle of Spanish cinema and home to illustrious, world-renowned film-makers and the latter as it is the location for the filming of epic Spanish cinema and television series. Ciudad de la Luz is the great backer for the project, and in addition it is the current headquarters of the National Film Commission. Espaņa Rodada has been subsidised by the Ministry of Culture via the call for Grants for the promotion of cultural tourism corresponding to 2011.
